Netflix will stream La Velada del Año live for 2027 to 2029

The deal covers three editions of Ibai Llanos’s Spanish-language creator boxing and entertainment event. Netflix calls each an exclusive live stream; it has not announced the 2027 date, card or venue, and the release leaves replay terms open.

THE SHORT VERSION

  • Netflix says La Velada del Año will stream exclusively live on its service in 2027, 2028 and 2029; the 2027 edition will be the seventh.
  • Earlier editions aired mainly on Twitch. Netflix says the 2026 sixth edition expanded to YouTube and TikTok, with the new deal starting in 2027.
  • Netflix reports a 2025 peak of 9.3 million concurrent viewers; Cadena SER later reported organizer figures for 2026 of 34 million unique devices, a 6.17 million connected-device average and 80,000 attendees. These measures differ.

Netflix has secured three live editions

Netflix announced on October 19 that La Velada del Año will stream exclusively live on its service in 2027, 2028 and 2029. The company calls the 2027 show the seventh edition of the event created by Ibai Llanos. The official announcement defines a three-edition live-rights window. It gives viewers the years and platform, not a calendar for any one show.

The word live sets the boundary. The release does not explain replay windows, full-event archives, highlight packages or clips on creators’ accounts. Viewers can treat Netflix as the announced destination for the live programs in those years; they cannot assume every recording or short clip will move with them. Rights to those formats are outside the announcement, so a fan who watches after the live broadcast will need to wait for a separate notice.

The platform change starts with the 2027 edition

The move follows two different distribution arrangements. El País reports that earlier editions were streamed mainly on Ibai’s Twitch channel. Netflix says the sixth edition in 2026 expanded to YouTube and TikTok. The timeline is useful to keep straight: 2026 was still carried on those platforms, while Netflix’s three-year term begins with edition seven in 2027. The agreement does not move the sixth edition or its existing recordings to Netflix.

For a returning viewer, the change concerns where to look for the next live show. Netflix describes the deal as a way to extend the event’s reach globally, but its release gives no country-by-country availability list or language options. El País independently confirms the 2027–2029 arrangement and cites Ibai’s social announcement. Neither report says whether his channels will keep carrying clips or behind-the-scenes posts, so those should not be assumed to be part of the live-rights deal.

The 2026 edition shows what a multi-platform broadcast included

TikTok’s June 23 newsroom notice said the sixth edition would be the first La Velada del Año streamed on TikTok LIVE. It described a 20-creator lineup from Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, El Salvador and Puerto Rico and pointed viewers to the #LaVelada6 hashtag for event information. Those are details about the 2026 card, not names or regions confirmed for 2027. They help explain how the previous edition widened distribution before the Netflix agreement began.

Before the main card, TikTok’s announced schedule included a pre-show with live chat, where viewers could ask creators how training was going and begin choosing favorites. It then planned an official weigh-in from Seville on July 24, with the main event on July 25. TikTok also presented live chat and real-time audience interaction as part of that coverage. Cadena SER later reported that the event ran for more than eight hours. The details show TikTok’s role began before the first bout and continued through the night; they are a record of 2026 coverage, not a schedule Netflix has promised for 2027.

The program combines creator boxing with music

Netflix describes La Velada del Año as a Spanish-language production that began in 2021 with boxing between creators from Spain and Latin America. Its current format combines amateur boxing matches between internet personalities with live musical performances and other entertainment. The company says the production is designed for both people in the venue and viewers watching online. That description is more useful than reading the name as a single-bout event: the live program brings several kinds of performance together.

Ibai recalled that the first edition took place in a small concert venue in Barcelona, and that he had not expected it to grow so far. This gives the event a concrete starting point, rather than a complete history of every rule or participant-selection change. The announcement calls 2027 the seventh edition, but does not say whether its format or segment order will match any earlier show. El País likewise describes the move from creator boxing to an entertainment program with music and guests.

Recent stadiums show the in-person scale

Netflix names Madrid’s Metropolitano and Santiago Bernabéu stadiums, along with Seville’s La Cartuja, as venues used by recent editions. These examples show how the event’s live setting grew from the small Barcelona concert venue Ibai remembers to major stadiums. They are historical context, not confirmation of where the seventh edition will be held. No 2027 site or ticket information appears in the October announcement.

The venue crowd and the streaming audience are two parts of the same production, but they are different measures. Netflix’s viewer figures describe people watching online; they are not stadium attendance counts. The agreement confirms a live destination for remote viewers. It does not describe ticket sales, seating capacity or whether Netflix will change the in-person show, so fans considering travel still need a separate venue announcement.

Netflix reports one peak and two averages

Netflix gives a 9.3 million peak of concurrent viewers for the fifth edition in 2025. Separately, it says average viewership grew from about one million in 2021 to more than six million in 2026. El País repeats these numbers and attributes them to Netflix. The average figures compare like with like across two editions; using the rounded values, the reported average grew by more than six times over that period.

Cadena SER’s July 29 report adds a more detailed 2026 snapshot. It says organizers counted more than 34 million unique devices across Twitch, YouTube and TikTok, an average of 6.17 million connected devices over more than eight hours, a combined peak of 8.73 million devices and 80,000 people at La Cartuja. The report attributes the figures to the organizers. Unique devices, connected-device averages, concurrent peaks and in-person attendance are different measures, so the 2025 peak should not be compared with the 2026 unique-device total.

The 2027 program and viewing details are still open

The October 19 notice does not name the next edition’s date, start time, fight card, creator participants, musical guests or running time. Knowing that 2027 will be edition seven does not reveal who will compete or perform. Those are separate production decisions, and the current rights announcement says nothing about them. Viewers should not copy last year’s schedule or lineup into a calendar for a future edition.

Netflix presents the partnership as international expansion, but the announcement gives no country-by-country access terms, subtitle plan or alternate audio. It also does not say which subscription plans will include the live show. The next useful update for fans will be the event page for the seventh edition, with its program and viewing details. Until then, the confirmed information is the three-year live window and the event’s established mix of boxing, music and entertainment.
