Slashfilm and Consequence both report a 5,363-piece Godzilla LEGO set, 27.5 inches tall, priced at $449.99 and released on Black Friday, November 27. Consequence identifies it as set 21375, traces it to a LEGO Ideas submission from December 2023 and reports a 359-piece Logo & Footprint gift with purchase before November 30.

LEGO's first official Godzilla set arrives on Black Friday at $449.99, with 5,363 pieces and a 27.5-inch stance. The two reports differ on the design's origin and on the early-buyer gift.

THE SHORT VERSION

  • Slashfilm and Consequence both report a 5,363-piece Godzilla LEGO set, 27.5 inches tall, priced at $449.99 and released on Black Friday, November 27.
  • Consequence identifies it as set 21375, traces it to a LEGO Ideas submission from December 2023 and reports a 359-piece Logo & Footprint gift with purchase before November 30.
  • Slashfilm reports the set is inspired by the Monsterverse films and names the design team, while Consequence says the finished model is almost entirely a display piece.

5,363 pieces, 27.5 inches, $449.99

LEGO has announced a Godzilla set, the first official building brick version of the monster, and both outlets lead with the same numbers: 5,363 pieces, 27.5 inches tall and $449.99. Slashfilm reports that the set is inspired by the kaiju's appearance in Legendary's Monsterverse films and that it will be sold on the LEGO website for Black Friday on November 27, with the height figure taken to the top of the heat ray coming out of the monster's mouth. Consequence gives the set number as 21375 and dates the sale to the same day.

Consequence's subheading puts the offer in the headline slot: "The monster-sized, 5,363-piece model comes with a Godzilla Logo & Footprint gift with purchase for early buyers". The gift set holds 359 pieces and can be added to orders placed through LEGO before November 30 or while supplies last. Slashfilm's report does not mention the promotion at all, so a reader who saw only that version would not know it existed. The offer is bounded by a date and by stock, which means it can end on whichever comes first.

A fan submission, then a studio design

The two accounts of the set's origin differ, and the difference is worth keeping. Slashfilm places the model inside LEGO's Ideas programme, where fans submit designs that are voted on and may be considered for production, and says the build was inspired by the Monsterverse films. Consequence goes further back, reporting that the set began as an Ideas project submitted by a designer posting as MattE720 in December 2023.

Slashfilm names the team that finished it: the fan creator Matthew Esposito, LEGO model designers Jim Clayton and Markus Rollbühler and creative design lead Jordan Scott. Consequence does not name the designers. Neither outlet explains how a fan submission tied to a studio's monster became an official set, or what the original designer receives for it, and neither quotes LEGO's own announcement.

Seventy centimetres of monster

Slashfilm calls it the largest creature LEGO has designed and reports that the team was not sure it could reach 50cm before ending up at 70cm. Consequence gives the height in both units, over 27.5 inches or 70 cm, and adds a base measurement of 15.5 inches, or 40 cm, wide. It calls the set one of the biggest LEGO builds currently available.

Slashfilm measures the set against the line it will sit beside, noting that it will be quite monstrous among the modular buildings, LEGO's Marvel Avengers Tower included. Consequence goes further, calling it the largest creature build ever, without naming the previous record holder. Neither report gives the model's depth or a piece count broken down by section, and neither says how long the build takes.

What actually moves

Consequence is blunt about the set's purpose: "The massive size of the LEGO Godzilla means it's almost entirely a display piece." The head swivels up and down, the mouth takes either a small tongue or a brick-built blue atomic breath, and the tail can be fixed facing left or right. That is the whole range of movement, the site says, before conceding that the bulk and the bright blue dorsal fins still make an impressive build.

Slashfilm describes the same parts from the other direction, noting the glowing spines along the back and a tail built to be swung as a weapon, and reporting that the blue blast can be pulled out and replaced with the tongue. Neither report says whether the spines use a light element or are simply bright blue bricks, and neither gives the model's weight.

The 359-piece reason to buy early

The gift with purchase is Consequence's story. The Godzilla Logo & Footprint set, 359 pieces, comes with orders of the Godzilla set placed through LEGO before November 30 or while stock lasts. Consequence puts that detail in its subheading, which suggests the outlet sees it as the reason to buy on the first day rather than wait for a discount that neither report mentions.

Slashfilm's piece, time-stamped about two hours after Consequence's, has no mention of the promotion, and neither outlet reports a price cut on the $449.99. Consequence also discloses that it may earn an affiliate commission on purchases made through links in the article. Slashfilm carries no such note in the reviewed text, which is a difference in how the two sites present retail links rather than in what they report.

Why the announcement landed this week

Consequence places the announcement against a release date. The site identifies Godzilla Minus Zero as Takashi Yamazaki's sequel to 2023's Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One and notes that the announcement comes days before the film opens. It gives the release as a Friday: "The new movie hits theaters on Friday, November 6th." Slashfilm mentions the same sequel in passing, as the next Japanese Godzilla film after Minus One.

What neither report answers: whether the set will be sold outside LEGO's own channels, how much of the price is licensing, or whether a second Godzilla set is planned. Slashfilm ends by wishing for a King Kong set, which is a hope rather than a report, and Consequence points readers toward smaller creature builds instead.
